Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the 1stRing AI platform operated by 1stRing AI (“1stRing”, “we”, “us”, or “our”). By signing up for or using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use our services.

1. Service Description

1stRing AI provides an AI-powered receptionist service designed for small businesses. The service answers inbound phone calls and chat messages, books appointments, captures lead information, and assists with outbound follow-up communications — all on behalf of the business client. The AI agent operates under the business's name and is configurable through our platform.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use 1stRing AI only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Use the service to send spam, unsolicited commercial messages, or communications that violate the CAN-SPAM Act, TCPA, or other applicable laws.
  • Use the service to conduct, facilitate, or promote illegal activities of any kind.
  • Impersonate another person, business, or entity, or provide false information about your business.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract any portion of the platform, models, or proprietary data.
  • Use the service to harass, threaten, or harm any individual.
  • Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or any material that could damage our systems or those of our users.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these restrictions.

3. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately at support@1string.ai if you suspect unauthorized access.

You represent that you have the authority to bind the business entity on whose behalf you are registering, and that the information you provide is accurate and complete.

4. Pricing, Trial, and Billing

30-day free trial. New customers receive a 30-day free trial of 1stRing AI starting from the date of activation. You provide a valid payment method at signup so that, if you decide to continue past day 30, your subscription begins automatically without any further action required from you. No charges occur during the trial period.

Conversion to paid — $199 per month. At the end of the 30-day trial, your service automatically converts to a paid monthly subscription at $199 per month. We will email you a reminder at least three (3) business days before the first charge so you have time to cancel if you do not wish to continue.

Cancel anytime. You may cancel your trial or your subscription at any time, with no notice period and no cancellation fee, from the “Billing” section of your merchant dashboard or by emailing support@1string.ai. Cancellation during the trial takes effect immediately and no charge is ever incurred. Cancellation after conversion takes effect at the end of the then-current billing month — you retain access through the end of the period you have paid for.

Refund policy. Monthly subscription fees are non-refundable except as follows: (i) if you cancel within 7 days of a renewal charge AND have not materially used the service in that period, we will issue a prorated refund on request; (ii) if we materially fail to deliver the service due to our own fault (e.g., extended outage), we will issue a credit or refund at our discretion; (iii) where required by applicable consumer-protection law. Contact billing@1string.ai to discuss your situation.

Price changes. We may change list pricing with at least 30 days' advance email notice to the email address on your account. You may cancel before a price change takes effect and pay the prior rate through the remainder of the current period.

Taxes. Stated prices are exclusive of any applicable sales, use, VAT, GST, or similar taxes, which we collect where required by law and remit to the appropriate authority.

5. Service Availability

We will use commercially reasonable efforts to keep 1stRing AI available and operational. However, we do not promise any specific uptime level or service-level agreement (SLA) in these Terms or in your service agreement.

We monitor our underlying vendors (telephony, large-language-model, and hosting providers) and work with them when incidents occur, but we do not pass through their uptime guarantees to you. Scheduled maintenance windows will be communicated in advance where feasible.

If a material extended outage occurs that is the fault of 1stRing or its primary vendors, we may, at our discretion, issue a service credit or refund for the affected period.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue features or portions of the service at any time with reasonable notice.

6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

The service uses generative AI. Responses produced by 1stRing AI — including spoken responses on phone calls, written responses in chat, drafted emails, summaries, and recommendations — are generated by large-language models. Like all generative AI systems, our models can:

  • Produce factually inaccurate statements (“hallucinations”), including invented prices, hours, policies, or commitments;
  • Misinterpret a caller's intent or context;
  • Quote outdated information from a stale knowledge base;
  • Be susceptible to adversarial prompt-injection by callers.

Do not rely on AI-generated responses for binding decisions. In particular, you and your customers should not treat AI-generated output as:

  • A binding price quote or contractual offer;
  • Medical, dental, or veterinary advice or diagnosis;
  • Legal advice, regulatory guidance, or compliance assurance;
  • Financial, tax, or investment advice;
  • An emergency-services dispatch or substitute for 911;
  • Authoritative authentication or identity verification.

Customer review responsibility. You — the business client — are responsible for (a) keeping your knowledge base, hours, prices, and policies current in the 1stRing AI platform; (b) reviewing AI-handled conversations on a reasonable cadence; (c) following up with any customer who appears to have received an inaccurate or misleading response; and (d) configuring escalation paths (call forwarding, hot-lead SMS) so that high-stakes conversations reach a human.

Indemnity carve-out for AI-generated content. Without limiting the limitation of liability in Section 9, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless 1stRing AI, its officers, employees, and agents from any claim, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) brought by a third party arising out of or related to (i) reliance by you or your customer on an AI-generated response as if it were a human commitment; (ii) your failure to maintain accurate knowledge-base content; or (iii) any representation you make to your customers that mischaracterizes the AI receptionist as a human agent. This indemnity does NOT apply to the extent the claim arises from 1stRing's own gross negligence or willful misconduct.

Disclosure to callers. Our AI agents disclose that they are AI when a caller asks. You agree not to instruct, configure, or prompt the agent to deny that it is AI when directly asked. Deceiving callers about the nature of the agent is a violation of these Terms and may expose you to TCPA, FTC, and state consumer-protection liability.

7. Intellectual Property

The 1stRing AI platform, including all software, AI models, interfaces, and documentation, is owned by 1stRing AI and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any ownership rights in the platform.

You retain ownership of your own business data, call recordings, and content you provide to configure the service. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to process this content as necessary to operate and improve the platform in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE ERROR-FREE, UNINTERRUPTED, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ANY WARRANTY THAT AI-GENERATED OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR FIT FOR YOUR PARTICULAR USE CASE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, 1STRING AI'S TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE TOTAL FEES YOU PAID TO 1STRING AI IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

IN NO EVENT SHALL 1STRING AI BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate the service relationship at any time. You may terminate by canceling your subscription. We may terminate or suspend your access immediately if:

  • You breach any provision of these Terms;
  • You fail to pay fees when due;
  • We are required to do so by law; or
  • We determine, in our sole discretion, that continued access poses a risk to the platform or other users.

Upon termination, your right to access the service ceases. Sections covering intellectual property, limitation of liability, indemnity, and governing law survive termination.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Effective date” at the top of this page and, where practicable, by emailing registered account holders. Continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. SMS / Text Messaging Program Terms

This section governs the 1stRing AI SMS text-messaging program. SMS notifications are an optional feature. Providing your business phone number during signup does not automatically enroll you in SMS — enrollment requires entering a dedicated mobile number for text alerts AND affirmatively checking the optional consent checkbox described below.

Program name. 1stRing AI Booking Notifications.

Program description. 1stRing AI sends transactional SMS booking alerts to verified subscriber phone numbers. These messages notify the subscriber (a business owner or authorized staff member at a 1stRing AI paying account) of new customer bookings captured by the 1stRing AI receptionist, of missed-call recoveries, and of similar account-activity events. Recipients are subscribers themselves — NOT the subscribers' end customers. No marketing, promotional, or third-party messaging is sent through this program.

Frequency. Message frequency varies based on the volume of inbound bookings to your business. Typical subscribers receive between 1 and 10 messages per day. High-volume subscribers may receive more.

Cost. Messages are sent at no cost from 1stRing AI. Msg & data rates may apply from your mobile carrier; consult your wireless plan for details.

How to opt in. Opt-in to the 1stRing AI Booking Notifications program occurs at signup at https://1string.ai/start. In Step 1 of the signup form, the prospective subscriber may enter a mobile number for text alerts (separate from their business phone) and check the SMS consent checkbox below it. The mobile number field and the consent checkbox are both optional and unchecked/empty by default — they are not a condition of signing up for or using the service. Checking the consent checkbox constitutes the subscriber's affirmative, express written consent under the TCPA and E-SIGN Act to receive transactional SMS at the mobile number provided for text alerts from 1stRing AI's Booking Notifications program. Leaving the checkbox unchecked does not prevent signup; the subscriber simply will not receive SMS and will instead receive booking alerts by email and in the merchant dashboard. Only the mobile number entered alongside an affirmative consent action receives ongoing SMS notifications.

How to opt out. Reply STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT to any message to opt out. You will receive a one-time confirmation that you have been unsubscribed and will receive no further messages from this program. To resubscribe, reply START to the same number or re-verify the phone number in the Merchant Dashboard.

Get help. Reply HELP or INFO to any message to receive a help reply. For non-message support, email support@1string.ai.

Carriers. Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Privacy. Phone numbers and message content are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
